300.000 Romanian people against corruption. Protest in Bucharest.

More than 300,000 Romanians demonstrated on Wednesday against a government decree decriminalizing some graft offences, seen as the biggest retreat on reforms since the country joined the European Union in 2007. Protesters shouted „Thieves” and carried banners that read „The morning shift”, sending a message that the protests will continue until the law is stopped.

The rally in the capital subsided peacefully by 2230 GMT, but a group of about 300 soccer ultras came in and threw firecrackers, stones and smoke bombs at police guarding the main government offices, who responded with tear gas. At least 100 hooligans were detained and an advertising billboard was set on fire. The violent protesters were football supporters and not anti-government demonstrators.

But Romania is not only about violence and corruption. It’s also about well-educated people that hope for the best. people that are fighting against corruption the only way they can: peaceful.

So, this is how the protest was before hooligans came.
